Sometimes There Are NO Words!

Yesterday within about 3 minutes, I was trying to unload the groceries, Harper is screaming in the car "Mom, I need to go poop!"-so I race her to the bathroom, meanwhile, Adeline has an extreme blowout diaper and then Harper thinks it would be a great idea to dump shampoo all over her herself. So they both got baths before 5 pm. I had no words by the time Peter arrived home from work.

Today, Harper woke up very hoarse, congested and sounded "croopy". I went ahead and sent her to school because she wasn't running a fever but I did schedule a doctor's appointment for later in the afternoon so I could work most of the day (yes, I am one of the those moms). When I arrived at school to pick up Harper, she sounded worse and then we went to pick up Adeline and her teachers said, she wouldn't eat all day and slept over 3 hours (this did not at all sound like my child). So I took them both to the doctor and what does the doctor say, BOTH, I repeat BOTH of my girls have ear infections. Really??? I'm so glad I am one of those moms that freaks out when the weather is supposed to get bad b/c I only took them to the doctor just to make they weren't really sick but to my dismay, I was wrong-they are both sick with no fevers. So the next few days (hopefully, with power) we will try to stay entertained and snuggled up to stay warm.

Oh Baby, You Are Growing Up To Quickly!

Our little baby girl, Adeline, is no longer a baby and quite honestly it makes me VERY sad. In fact, it has me contemplating another.

Sweet little girl you never cease to amaze me. You are 9 months old now and growing like a weed. We went to the doctor this week and you weighed 17 lbs. 10 oz (26th percentile) and you were 27.25 inches (36th percentile). I often compare you to your big sister, Harper and at this age Harper was 17 lbs 2 oz (25th percentile) and 26.5 inches (25th percentile). You are both on the same track to be small but that's okay.
Here are a few little things about you:
-you love to eat and you will eat just about anything except blueberries. You are also picking up finger foods to eat. You have had several new foods (cheese, waffles, macaroni and cheese) this week and LOVED them!
-you are still "army" crawling everywhere
-you pull up on anything and will walk around furniture
-you are into anything and everything
-you are also now opening drawers/cabinets
-you say "nana" for "mama" and you also say "dada"
-you want to be just like your big sister, Harper
-you love to make noises and blow rasperberries
-you have 2 teeth on bottom (they were your christmas present)
-you love to have daddy put you to sleep at night
-you are starting to use your walker
-you wave "bye-bye" and it's probably one of the cutest waves I have ever seen
-When you fall, you freak out and cry. I guess you are scared but your sister never did this so your daddy and I just laugh
-you kind of say "hi"
-you love to be talked to and read to
Quite honestly you are probably one of the cutest and sweetest people I have ever met! I love being your mommy!

Hello 2010

Happy New Year! I can't believe we are already in the year 2010. I feel like it was just yesterday when the world was panicking about Y2K-Wow-how time flies. I think I find myself saying this phrase more and more as I get older.

For those of you who don't know, New Years Eve of 2000, I fell for the man of my dreams and the rest has been history. As I look back, this decade has brought about many blessings and challenges in our lives. Here's a few of the major milestones: 1) I met the love of my life/soul-mate/best friend at TU 2) Peter and I were married 3) We graduated from college 4) We got our first "real" jobs 5)Bought 2 houses 6) Had 2 beautiful girls. Of course, there have been many more significant blessings and challenges in our lives but I could go on and on. We both feel that we are tremendously blessed beyond measure and love where we are right now. Each year our lives get better and better.

The year 2009 gave us our second baby girl, Adeline; my parents moved back to Tulsa; I got a new job; Peter and I had a mini vacation to San Antonio; my brother got engaged; we started our own business with Mona Vie; last but not least Harper is potty trained.

We are looking forward to many more adventures with 2010-some of the things that we are looking forward to include: more success with Mona Vie; Adeline beginning to walk; Harper's 3rd birthday; Adeline's 1st birthday; opening of the new Drillers ballpark; Peter and I's vacation to Charlotte for a week; my brother getting married and I'm sure there will be many more surprises along the way!

Each year, I am asked "What is your New Year's Resolution? I have many this year 1) relax and not over analyze my life 2) grow in my relationship with Christ 3) read more "quality" books 4) spend more quality time and cook more during the week for my family 5) work even harder with Mona Vie oh yea and exercise.

McAdams Christmas 2009

This is what Santa brought Adeline

As most of you know, this Christmas in Oklahoma was not like many we have seen before. I was sad that we were not able to fulfill one of our Christmas Eve family traditions of taking communion together at our church. This has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. We did however, venture to Peter's parents house for the annual Christmas Eve Party. We had fewer guests this year due to the outrageous blizzard and we left a lot earlier than planned so we could get home safely.

When we got home, they put on their Christmas PJ's and we set out cookies for Santa and wrote him a letter. Peter also started a new tradition of reading, The Night Before Christmas. Thank goodness, the girls let us sleep in on Christmas morning-I'm sure in a few years, this will all change but for now...Mommy and Daddy say Thank You!

The next morning was also not the same as Christmas' past. Due to the weather, my parents were the only ones who made it to our house. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful Christmas morning with yummy food but we missed my brother and his fiance, grandparents and Peter's parents. I did however learn a few things. The girls get very overwhelmed with too many presents. Adeline had no idea what was going on and Harper would open one present and then say, "I want to open it and play with it." Needless to say, Christmas morning took hours. Next year, I might limit the presents and/or save some of them for a rainy day.

Also, on Christmas morning, Adeline woke up with a terribly running nose, fever and cough. As you see from some of the pictures, that she wasn't too happy. We found out on December 26th-that she had gotten her first two teeth-there were her front bottom teeth. She has been pretty miserable.

After opening presents and naps, we headed to Peter's grandma's place (AKA "GG"). It was fun to be around Peter's moms side of the family. The girls love their new cousin. Many packages later, we made the trek home on the scary roads~once again.

The next day, we were able to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family (my parents-yea, again; my grandpa and my brother and soon to-be sister in law). We opened wonderful presents and my mom made a magnificent meal. This is where we discovered Adeline's first teeth.

I Love You Santa....

Harper has loved Santa since she met him but as you can see, we are pretty sure Adeline has mixed emotions about this jolly old man. I do have to tell you the sweetest thing-I asked Harper what she wanted for Christmas this year so she could tell Santa. She said, "Mommy, I just want one present, just one present." We are pretty sure she doesn't get the whole Santa thing.

This year, we saw Santa twice-he was a busy little fellow. The first night we saw him in Jenks.
Adeline preferred Mrs. Claus to Santa Claus
She was scared to death of him the first night....
The next morning, we went to see GG and there was Santa again...
Adeline was a lot happier to see Santa this time
The girls were looking at their 2nd cousin Kaylee
Of course, we had to get a picture of all 3 girls with Santa....

It's a Family Tradition....

One of our many family traditions is making sugar cookies from scratch, cutting them out with "Christmas" cookies cutters, baking them and then icing them (sprinkles and all). For the past few years, we have neglected the tradition but this year we brought it back and Harper had a blast.

We went to Grammy and Poppy's house early Saturday morning to cut out the cookies....Harper decided to stay in her warm and cozy PJ's.

After nap time, we went back to Grammy and Poppy's house to begin icing the cookies. Grammy was trying to show Harper how to ice the cookies.

Mommy and Harper stopping for a photo op

Harper meticulously icing the star. It honestly took her about 10 minutes to ice each of her cookies

Using about a half a container of sprinkles on one cookie

"Bucka" my brother, came over to help decorate the cookies. Harper and him are quite the pair.

"Yes, I want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and fries, please!"

Like, I said in a previous post, I never know what Harper is going to say. Today, we were in the bank drive thru and when the lady said, "how can I help you?". Harper screamed, "Yes, I want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and fries, please!" Needless to say, I could hear all of the people inside laughing hysterically. She never ceases to amaze me!

Possibly a Teacher....

I honestly can say, I never know what is going to come out of my Harper's little mouth. Her new favorite phrase is "poop head". We know she learned it at school from a boy...of course, Harper thinks this is the funniest thing in the whole world. This morning, we were having a lazy morning because Peter was out of town. Harper went around the house, grabbing anything and everything she could find and stuffing it in a bag. After the bag was full, she sat down in her rocking chair and pulled out each item one by one-asking me, "Mommy, what is this?" After my response, she would say, "now what color is this?". When she was finished, she gave my a huge applause and said "Yea, mommy-you got them all right!" I'm pretty sure her teacher, Miss Bonnie, does this at school. My guess is, I have a teacher on my hands!

Thanksgiving weekend....a little late on the post

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! This year, we are so blessed to have my parents back in Tulsa. In fact, they live right around the corner. When my parents lived in Denver, they would come into town but Peter and I would host Thanskgiving. This year, my parents did it-Peter and I were thrilled to not have the responsibility-no offense, mom and dad. We did however have the responsibility of the turkey, which turned out to be a huge disaster. Apparently, the turkey we got, did not have a pop-up timer so after the maximum amount of time it was supposed to cook, we took it out of the oven. Peter sliced it but it wasn't cooked all the way. We took it to my parents house anyways....and my Paps had a brilliant idea. He said "let's smoke it on the grill." We did just that and it turned out perfect. After an enormous yummy meal at my parents, we headed to Peter's Uncle Rod and Aunt Karen's house for another wonderful feast.

Harper the Chieftess

Our girls in their matching Thanskgiving dresses-thanks Gramma Susan!

Family picture-it's so hard to get a good picture of all 4 of us

Peter and I have had a pretty rough 2 years. We have lost 3 incredible grandparents (Peter's Papa, my grandma Brust and my grandma Coombs). I think as I am getting older, I realize how truly blessed we are to have such incredible role models as parents and grandparents.

The girls with Peter's grandma Taylor (GG as the girls call her).

If you don't know, Harper loves to talk on the phone. She loves to talk to my Grams and Paps. Most of the time, they aren't on the phone but she loves for them to come and visit from Ardmore. This isn't the best picture of Grams but I can just see the love the girls have for her and trust me, my Grams loves and adores these two girls more than life itself.

Sweet Adeline and my Paps. I love and admire this man so much and we love having him come to visit.

We wanted to have professional pictures for our Christmas cards this year but the weather did not cooperate so we used my parents to take some pictures. As you can see, it wasn't the best afternoon to get pics of the girls. Thanks Grammy for the adorable "Santa Sparkle Baby" Christmas outfits!!!

Of course, here is sweet Adeline posing for the camera with her perfect smile!

cooperating....

Harper is no longer cooperating....

Trying to cooperate...At this point, we have bribed Harper with candy, ice cream and Sonic...

After all of the chaos and frustration to try and get a good family picture for our Christmas card, we ended up with a sad face from Harper.

Fancy Halloween

This year for Halloween the girls dressed up as Fancy Harper and Fancy Adeline. Harper has been obsessed with Fancy Nancy books for several months and when I asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween-she would answer with Fancy Halloween. So being the good mother that I am...I went shopping to find all of the materials to make Fancy costumes. I am pretty proud of the way they turned out. The earrings that Harper is wearing (clip on, of course) were my grandmother's and let me tell you...my grandmother never left the house unless she was fancy. So this year, I dedicated the costumes to her-we love you grandma and miss you!
Can you tell she is a little frightened to wear the costume that her mommy made her?

Meet Adeline's boyfriend, Max Beard (posing with his beautiful mommy-Julie), he was an adorable little monkey. We met the Beard's at Hallow Marine at the Aquarium on Friday night...it was little crowded but very entertaining for the kiddos

Sitting in the stoller as we tried to get through the crowds

Stopping to pose for the camera while looking at the fish at the Jenks Aquarium

First Trick-or-treat of the night----it was Grammy and Poppy's house

As you can tell, Adeline wasn't so sure out the costume but all in all, we had a wonderful time

Meet one our wonderful friends-Harrison Odom. Harrison's mommy and I couldn't resist taking a picture of the two of them together after all of the fun at Family Fun Fest at our church. Both were exhausted and didn't want to sit still but it's still a cute picture!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins and more pumpkins

This year instead of carving a pumpkin, I thought it would be fun to decorate a pumpkin using special Miss Potato Head pieces. Quite honestly, mom and dad weren't up to the challenge of carving a pumpkin and the mess that goes along with it! You can see from the pictures that Harper enjoyed decorating her mess free pumpkin!

Harper was so proud of her Miss Potato Head Pumpkin!

We ventured to the pumpkin patch in Bixby twice this year. Once with Gramma/Grandaddy and Grammy/Poppy and the second time was with our Sunday School class. The first Friday night, the weather was great but it was a little early in the season so the horses weren't there yet. The second Friday night, was right after one of the horrible rain storms so we didn't stay long...

We aren't really sure how riding a camel got into the mix at the pumpkin patch but Harper enjoyed it!

Love that smile!

Of course, I tried to get a picture of my girls together with the pumpkins and as you can tell...it didn't work out so well!

One of my favorite expressions from little Miss Harper
