McAdams Christmas 2009

This is what Santa brought Adeline

As most of you know, this Christmas in Oklahoma was not like many we have seen before. I was sad that we were not able to fulfill one of our Christmas Eve family traditions of taking communion together at our church. This has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. We did however, venture to Peter's parents house for the annual Christmas Eve Party. We had fewer guests this year due to the outrageous blizzard and we left a lot earlier than planned so we could get home safely.

When we got home, they put on their Christmas PJ's and we set out cookies for Santa and wrote him a letter. Peter also started a new tradition of reading, The Night Before Christmas. Thank goodness, the girls let us sleep in on Christmas morning-I'm sure in a few years, this will all change but for now...Mommy and Daddy say Thank You!

The next morning was also not the same as Christmas' past. Due to the weather, my parents were the only ones who made it to our house. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful Christmas morning with yummy food but we missed my brother and his fiance, grandparents and Peter's parents. I did however learn a few things. The girls get very overwhelmed with too many presents. Adeline had no idea what was going on and Harper would open one present and then say, "I want to open it and play with it." Needless to say, Christmas morning took hours. Next year, I might limit the presents and/or save some of them for a rainy day.

Also, on Christmas morning, Adeline woke up with a terribly running nose, fever and cough. As you see from some of the pictures, that she wasn't too happy. We found out on December 26th-that she had gotten her first two teeth-there were her front bottom teeth. She has been pretty miserable.

After opening presents and naps, we headed to Peter's grandma's place (AKA "GG"). It was fun to be around Peter's moms side of the family. The girls love their new cousin. Many packages later, we made the trek home on the scary roads~once again.

The next day, we were able to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family (my parents-yea, again; my grandpa and my brother and soon to-be sister in law). We opened wonderful presents and my mom made a magnificent meal. This is where we discovered Adeline's first teeth.
