Adeline's 2nd Birthday!

Yesterday was Adeline's 2nd birthday. We had a busy "birthday" day. I will the pictures tell the story from Adeline's special day!

Good morning birthday girl. She had stripped off her diaper and needed a bath.

Birthday breakfast after her bath. A cereal bar with a candle, of course! After breakfast, we headed over to our friend Jill's house. Jill was wonderful to "host" Adeline's birthday get together....all the kids enjoyed playing together outside and eating cupcakes Birthday girl smile!
mmmm....delicious!

All the kids eating the cupcakes on the deck. I probably shouldn't have made yellow cupcakes with chocolate icing but the kids LOVED them.

Harper loved the cupcakes....
This is where we went for Adeline's birthday dinner. We enjoyed the games but the pizza was horrible!
Daddy and the birthday girl....excited for Chuck-E-Cheese

My Climber

Another reason we love Minnesota-there are millions of parks everywhere. This morning, we went to a new park and this one had a climbing wall. My little climber, Harper, had to give it a try and did very well.

She made it to the top but then daddy had to come rescue her because she was scared to climb down.

How High Can You Go?

We just got back from the apartment playground (our new home away from home). Peter starting throwing Adeline up in the air. He has done this for years with the girls-each time, I have to say a little prayer because it frightens me. I have never been able to capture the moment so I tried today. Enjoy!

Ready, set....GO!

Check out how high she is...
Mommy is thankful that she is safe and daddy caught her....he has never dropped either one of them but I always fear the worst.

Never a DULL Moment

I have a little friend, her name is Adeline. Adeline is into everything and there is NEVER a dull moment. I had to share some pictures of some things we have found her doing recently! Sorry for the poor quality of pictures but they were taken with my phone.

Here she got into my makeup-she put on mascara (the black all over her face), foundation and eye shadow....

This is what we look like after we eat yogurt
Adeline getting into mommy's toothpaste and using it as lotion, she was saying "rub-a-dub"

This picture is my all-time favorite. One night, Peter was working and I had already bathed Adeline so I was getting Harper ready for bed. I walk into the kitchen to find that Adeline had helped herself to some chips. She had found the coffee filters (used them to make her own bowl), opened the chips and opted for a late night snack

Adeline is now wanting to use the potty-we are debating on whether to start potty training her. She has asked multiple times to sit on the potty.

70's girl

She makes me laugh, she makes me smile--she is the sweetest thing in the world and I love how incident she looks in this picture.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood!

It's a beautiful day in Minnesota. The girls are so happy to be spending time outside running around. We have a small playground at the apartment complex and we have been there twice in the last 16 hours and I'm sure we will go back after naps today. I have a fun story about Harper. I am so proud of her. Today, while we were at the apartment playground, there was a little girl who was trying to get Harper to follow her where I told her not to go and Harper said "I can't, my mommy said 'no' and I need to listen to her!" Are you kidding me?-that never happens-I was so proud of her. Adeline on the other hand is in the terrible two mode, which means no listening and having her own agenda:)

This girl loves to swing

Swinging sisters!

Enjoy the spring-like weather. Everything is still very brown here but I know the bright, vibrant, pretty colors are coming very soon!

We miss you, Grams!

This is just an extension from my post yesterday. My Grams went to be with Jesus on March 26th. Here is her obituary.

"Betty Jean Buck, 81, went to be with her Heavenly Father early in the morning on March 26th, 2011, in her home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Crystal Rock Cathedral, Ardmore, Okla. with the Reverend Walt Spradling officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

Born on August 29, 1929, in Ardmore, Okla, to Mr. James Monroe Herring and Mrs. Ethel Elberta (Hickman) Herring. Betty Jean was raised in Ardmore, Okla. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Charles Ray Buck on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1947, she was proud of their sixty-three years together. As they raised their two sons, she was an avid fan and could always be counted on to be in the stands cheering for them and their teammates.

Betty Jean loved her family and was known by one and all as 'Grams,' a name bestowed by her granddaughter. After working for seventeen years as a secretary at Lincoln Elementary, she retired to become a homemaker and companion to her husband. They could often be seen in their travel trailer beating a path to various campgrounds. She will be remembered for her unshakable faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Christian from a tender young age, she was a member of CrystalRock Cathedral for twenty-six years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Jackie Davis, Billie Eaton and Louise Clark. Betty Jean is survived by her husband, Charles Buck, of the home; son, Wayne Buck and wife, Linda, of Tulsa, Okla. and son, Jim Buck and wife Kathy, of Ardmore, Okla; a granddaughter, Tiffany McAdams and husband, Peter, of Minneapolis, Minn; grandson, Matthew Buck and wife, Amy, of Tulsa, Okla; and grandson, Trent Buck and wife, Ashley, of Fort Polk, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren, Clayton, Jordan, Tucker, Harper, Adeline and Elaina; brother-in-law ,Tommy Buck and wife Linda. All of us will greatly miss her, yet we celebrate her heavenly homecoming."

Here are a few pictures that my mom took the day of her funeral.

Paps (standing) with his brother Tommy. This a random fact about both of my grandparents. My Grams was one of 4 girls and Paps was one of 4 boys. These are the only two left (total).

The girls and their cousin, Jordan, playing before the service.

My brother and I with our one and only 1st cousin, Trent. He is stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana. We are so proud of him-seeing him in his uniform made get teary eyed.

She was such an incredible lady and is missed by so many.

"It's okay, She's in Heaven with Jesus"

This past week in a half has probably been one of the most emotional times in my life. My sweet Grams went to be with Jesus early in the morning on March 26th. I did a post back on March 1st about my sweet Grams (Titled: A Wonderful Visit). I knew when I left Ardmore in February it would probably be the last time I saw her (I know it was the Lord preparing me). We all knew it was coming, when I was packing for Tulsa I brought some things that I knew we would need for a funeral. I am so thankful that Grams did not suffer and she went quickly. One of the stories my Paps told me about her last few days on earth is so AWESOME. She would say "Who are those people Charles? Do you hear that?" Paps said it was incredible experience because he knew she was hearing and seeing angels. Later on, Grams would say, "where did those people go?" There was never anyone there during those times. I know, Grams is whole, she is new and she is home again. We left to go to Tulsa on Thursday (March 24th)-stayed in KC and got to Tulsa on Friday (March 25th). We were scheduled to go to Ardmore on Sunday (March 27th). I got a call around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday (the 26th) that she had passed. I was an emotional wreck for days-I cried more than I knew I could and as I am typing this, I am getting teary eyed. My sweet innocent Harper would say "mommy, it's okay, she's in heaven with Jesus." She was so matter-of-fact about it. Like mom, get it together-why are you sad? She is with Jesus! Obviously I know my Grams is in heaven with Jesus but when my 4 year old daughter would say those words, it brought me more comfort than I imagined! My Grams was absolutely one of the most amazing people I have ever met...I am honored to have her as my grandmother. Peter flew into Tulsa Monday morning and we left to go to Ardmore. When we got to Ardmore, I went to the funeral home to say my "good-bye's" my emotional break-down kind of way. Monday evening was the viewing. I was so proud of my Paps. He was very strong. At one point, he was talking to someone and had to stop, I asked him "what's wrong?" and he said "I almost said, Betty is in there, go in and see her!" Ugh-talk about breaking my heart into a million and one pieces. He also said something (multiple times) that really got to me. Paps would say "look at her, isn't she the most beautiful woman you have ever seen?"He is just as much in love with her today as he was 63 years ago. She was such a beautiful lady on the inside as well as the outside! I love that my Paps still called her "shoogs" and that he still opened the car door for her. Grams could light up a room with her contagious grin. Grams was a fighter; even when she was extremely sick the last time we saw her, she wanted to be up and watching her great-grandchildren. She was also very stubborn but I appreciate that because that is something I am known for. I admired her tenacity to face obstacles as they came her way. She knew when she got the stage 4 bone and liver cancer that she did not want chemo or radiation. Grams was ready to go to heaven. The day of the service, we celebrated her life but we also grieved loosing our Grams. We all cried. I know I will see my Grams again and like the pastor said at her service, "she will be waiting for us. And she will be the first one to hug our neck when we get to heaven!" I will miss her laugh, her smile, her voice, her hugs, spending holidays with her and shopping with her.
