Randomness

I feel like there is so much going on in our lives and I feel like I don't have time to blog anymore...work has gotten into full swing and it is crazy busy but I'm am really enjoying working with most of my kids.

I got a compliment from a mom the other day-that went something like this-I walked into their home early Tuesday morning, sat down to work with her child and she said "you aren't like our last therapist" Me: "um, I hope that's a good thing?" Mom: "Oh, it's a great thing-you have made more progress with him in 2 weeks than she did in months." Right there, I knew I was doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. Those compliments make me love my job even more.

A funny other note about my job-I work two jobs-one with a private company that goes into peoples homes and the other one is a private company that goes into charter schools. One of the charter schools that I go in, is a Somalian middle school, which I actually really enjoy. The staff has been amazing and the students are so sweet. Yesterday, there was a luncheon, so I brought brownies (yummy, brownies with cookie crumbs and marshmallows), which I thought were pretty harmless...WRONG!!! So apparently, marshmallows have gelatin that comes from pork and well, Somalians don't/can't eat pork-so I made an ENORMOUS mistake. The lady that told me was kind to tell me but I know there were lots of people that were very upset by my mistake (that I had no idea was a mistake until it was too late). Lesson learned: I will never bring anything to a luncheon there.

Harper update-she is loving and thriving in school. She has a made some wonderful friends and teachers seem to really enjoy her. She also got a happy gram at school. You are probably wondering "what is a happy gram?" Well, it is a note from a teacher that lets parents know about good (better than normal behavior). Harper had a field trip on Tuesday and apparently she was very well behaved and followed directions. This made Peter and I's day since she can be pretty disobedient at home. Funny note about Harper-we have really been working on giving someone privacy when they go to the bathroom-we feel she is old enough to understand this concept. So lately when we walk in when is going potty, she will say "um, I need some pridacy" -with her hand up in the air (yes, you read that correctly, she calls it pridacy).

Adeline update-she LOVES school, well as she calls it "cool" This mama needs to work on her /s/ blends (speech path joke) Anyways, her teachers love her and always say she is so cooperative and so talkative. We have all been pretty congested this week-I have been trying to keep an eye on the girls to make sure it didn't turn into anything. We thought they were on the mend but our thoughts were wrong. Yesterday, Adeline's teachers reported she was pretty quiet but I blew it off as she was just tired. I should have watched more closely b/c when she woke up from her nap this afternoon, she had a terrible ear infection (lots of icky gunk oozing from her left ear). In fact, we just got back from urgent care. I know she will be fine but I can't believe she already has her 1st ear infection of the season. Oh on a funy note-she calls "pee" "peet"...she will say "oh no, I peeted!" It's pretty cute.

I think that about sums up the last week in our lives. Have a great weekend!
