When we were home (and even before we went to Tulsa), Harper had been complaining about her lower teeth hurting and even some about her ear hurting...I blew it off because the pain was changing sides. OOPS-bad mommy decision-her right ear drum burst in the middle of the night Tuesday/Wednesday. She woke up Wednesday morning and said "mommy, my finger is bleeding." I looked at her hand it was covered in blood. Frantically, searching to figure out where it was coming from, I checked her other hand (yep, it was bloody) and then I moved her hair from the right side of her face-I found the culprit-her right side was covered in blood. I immediately started panicking, which caused Harper to panic so I had to calm down pretty quickly. After calling Peter (who was still in Minnesota), I made a few phone calls and ended up in the ERgent Care. The staff was amazing. The doctor cleaned out Harper's ear (to the best of her ability), told us she might need surgery and sent us to our ENT. We went to the ENT that afternoon (fearing the worst). Since Peter was still in Minnesota, my mom went with us to the appointment. The doctor calmed my fears, cleaned out her ears even more and we were told to use drops 4 times a day and come back Monday morning. We went back on Monday and the doctor was pleased with her progress. She still has some healing to do and we are wearing ear plugs again (whenever she is in water). We did however hear that she needed her tonsils out-not sure when we are going to do this. Throughout this whole ordeal, I was so proud of Harper and how big and brave she was-she is definitely a trooper!
