Happy 1/2 Birthday Adeline

Happy half birthday precious Adeline! I can honestly say, that time has completely flown by these past 6 months. We are so blessed with such beautiful and bright little girls. So many days, I am awe of God’s power to create such miraculous gifts. Adeline, you have had a pretty eventful existence. When I was about 9 weeks pregnant with you, I had pretty significant bleeding but God knew what he was doing and protected you in my womb. Around 20 weeks, we received the news that you had multiple cysts on your brain and I was terrified but after lots of tears, prayers and tests, the cysts went away; again, God knew what he was doing with you. Through you, God taught me many a lessons during my pregnancy. Number 1 is that he is always in control and knows what’s best for all of us! You arrived 3 weeks and a 1 day early so technically they call you a preemie by 6 hours-I still don’t understand this logic but I’m not a doctor. Grammy and Poppy were coming in town for Easter and I prayed you would come early but I really didn’t expect to happen but again, God heard my prayers and you arrived into the world on April 11th at 6:35 pm with your beautiful, joyful, sweet personality. It’s so funny because from the beginning, you have had a pretty laid back/go with the flow attitude, which is great in this family. We aren’t real sure where you got this from but it’s such a breath of fresh air because you take time to carefully look at everything and take it all in. I love to watch you see something for the first time because your beautiful eyes light up with excitement. Your big sister, Harper had a difficult time the first few days getting to know you but now you both have an enormous love and admiration for each other. She sings to you, plays with you, hugs-loves-and kisses you, counts for you, and is mommy’s biggest helper when it comes to you. She always wants to know where you are and what you are doing. In the morning, the first thing Harper asks for is you, “Where is Adeline?”

During the first few days of your life, you lost a lot of weight but now you are weighing in at 15 ¾ lbs, which is the 32nd percentile and you are 26 inches long, which is in the 60th percentile.

Sweet Adeline in a nutshell at 6 months:
-You attend mother’s day out at our church, 3 days a week. Apparently, you are big hit because of your sweet spirit and oh yes, because I always have a bow in your hair.
-You laugh at anything and everything your sister does or says..on a side note, I love to listen to the two of you laugh at each other-it’s the most beautiful noise and it warms my heart like no other sound can do
-You love to be talked to and you actually like to be read to
-You will smile at anyone…your smile is precious because you kind of stick out your tongue, with a humongous grin and your eyes just twinkle
-You love to blow raspberries, especially while you are eating
-Speaking of eating…you love to eat. It’s so cute because sometimes if we are holding you while we are eating your mouth opens for our food, sorry sweet girl, it will be awhile before you get our table food but you will be getting new foods weekly from now on
-You babble constantly and you will say “dada”-not sure if you really know what you are saying but one day, you will figure out that you and Harper are probably two of the most fortunate children to have such an incredible father. You are the apple of his eye and he adores you; not to mention, he would do anything in the world to make you smile
-You have said “mama” but it’s been awhile…so please do it again soon because I miss hearing you say it. Oh yea, and of course, you daddy likes to tease me about that because you say ‘dada’ but not ‘mama’
-You finally starting to get over the spitting up and acid reflux-the first few months were rough on us all because you did a lot of crying and massive spitting up, which have all subsided. I think solid foods (rice cereal) really helped. You have become a much happier baby
-You roll from front to back and vice versa
-You love your pacifier

-Some days you would rather be on the floor rolling around and playing than to be held
-You enjoy your exersaucer
-You are starting to sit up on your own without any support
-We are still waiting for your first tooth. You have been drooling and chewing anything and everything you can get your hands on for weeks
-You just started to try and scoot on your back-it actually looks painful to watch because you lie on your back and push with your feet and you try to push yourself up but your neck gets all contorted.
-You love to snuggle with mommy when you are trying to fall asleep
-You love molly (our dog) to lick your fingers and you are trying to grab her hair, which is not a good thing because you have a very strong grip little girl

I’m sure there are many more things that I need to tell you but that is all I can think of for now. I will be posting 6 month pictures of you soon!
